Visit our website at: www.rclfoods.com RCL Foods is currently looking for a Warehouse Artisan to join our Groceries & Spreads Business Unit . The role is based in Boksburg. Purpose Of The Role The purpose of this role is to provide support to the Warehouse Controller to execute various building maintenance and site service tasks. The responsibility of the role includes electrical, mechanical, plumbing and general maintenance, as well as being the key liaison with maintenance service providers where required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Completed N3 and relevant Trade Test Mechanical/ Electrical/Millwright.

Knowledge and Skill

  • Must have professionalism when presenting yourself to others in your field of work.
  • Must be able to “think out of the box”.
  • Must be able to monitor each machine and know how to repair them using his / her skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Experience And Training

  • Minimum 6 years of experience is required
  • Experience with high-speed packaging machinery and processing plant will be an advantage.
  • Drivers license essential.
  • Flexible to work shifts.
  • To be willing to do the required stand-by duty.
  • To ensure that all call-outs are answered promptly and efficiently.
  • To be willing to perform work outside of normal working hours.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • General Repairs and Maintenance The incumbent will carry out daily maintenance checks as specified, and facilitate the timely resolution of equipment and/or infrastructure related interruptions through respective suppliers. S/he will enforce adherence to SLAs by OEMs to ensure appropriate and consistent execution of scheduled maintenance and/or inspections on equipment and infrastructure. These include:
  • Roller doors
  • High-speed doors
  • Dock levellers
  • Fire protection equipment
  • Building Management System instrumentation
  • Pallet Hoist and infeed conveyor
  • Pallet scanning and labelling kit
  • Pallet Racking
  • Refrigeration
  • HVAC System
  • Back-Up Generator (collaboratively with the site electricians)

Where rental/lease agreements are in force, as is the case with the CCTV infrastructure and MHE fleet, the incumbent will liaise with the relevant OEMs to ensure transparency in the adherence to SLA’s.

In Addition Conducting Routine Maintenance In Activities Such As

  • Replace faulty globes and tubes and safe disposal thereof.
  • Repair and/or replace electrical equipment (where qualified to).
  • Fix any safety hazards.
  • Move, assemble and repair furniture and other office equipment.
  • Carryout plumbing which included inspections and repairs of taps, toilets, drains, sinks, wash basins, urinals, bottle traps and pipes.
  • Replace broken windowpanes.
  • Replace doors, hinges and locks.
  • Communicate outstanding job cards to Warehouse Controller, Engineering Superintendent and Engineering Maintenance Planner
  • To be proactive in identifying potential faults/breakdowns before they occur by inspecting instruments and electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards and defects.
  • Makes recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Ensures that service levels are maintained at the required standards by carrying out all breakdown, preventative, and predictive maintenance effectively.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

Leadership

  • Management of the day-to-day activities and outputs of all activities independently.
  • Must be able to be manage understanding of machine drawings to improve performance and reduce downtime.
  • The individual must be able to manage parts needed and be able to work with Engineering planner on preventative planned tasks.
  • Performs work inspections and checks for completeness of tasks and compliance with legislative, SHEQ and in-house maintenance procedures.
  • Uses planned maintenance schedules to co-ordinate the daily activity in their role as an artisan.
  • Participate in problem-solving. Must be able to handle/understand problems encountered with machinery and find a solution
  • Must be able to use Root Cause analysis tools to complete the Works Order.

General assistance to facilities staff

  • Assist with adhoc projects and work.

Safety, Health. Environment, Risk and Quality (SHEQ)

  • Do risk assessment(s) in own area of responsibility.
  • Maintain a secure working environment.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure that necessary documentation required to execute work used applied consistently within scope of function.
  • Adhering to standard operating procedures, safe maintenance procedures, company policies and procedures, HACCP and safety, health and environmental policies and procedures at all times.
  • Carrying out reasonable and lawful work-related instructions.
