Knysna Wake & Ski is looking for a reliable, energetic and confident person to join our team for the upcoming summer season.
We operate wakeboarding, waterskiing, kneeboarding, scenic boat trips and other experiences on the Knysna Lagoon.
We are looking for someone who can develop into a key member of our crew. The ideal candidate may already have boating or watersports experience; however, we are happy to provide training to the right person with the right attitude.
This position will initially begin with a paid training and probation period, with the opportunity to progress into a more permanent, monthly-paid position once successfully completed.
Responsibilities
- Driving and handling the boat safely
- Teaching and assisting customers with wakeboarding and waterskiing
- Helping complete beginners feel safe and confident on the water
- Welcoming customers and providing a friendly, professional experience
- Preparing the boat and watersports equipment before sessions
- Cleaning and maintaining the boat and equipment
- Assisting with scenic trips and other activities
- Helping with merchandise sales
- Supporting the general day-to-day running of Knysna Wake & Ski
- Maintaining excellent safety and customer service standards
Requirements
We are primarily looking for the right person and attitude, so you do not necessarily need to have experience in every area.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Friendly, confident and comfortable speaking with customers
- Confident around boats and water
- Safety-conscious and responsible
- Comfortable working outdoors and in a physically active role
- Calm under pressure during busy periods
- Willing to learn and take on responsibility
- Able to work as part of a small team
- Available throughout the summer season
Previous experience in boat driving, wakeboarding, waterskiing, watersports instruction or tourism would be a strong advantage.
A valid skipper's licence would also be highly advantageous.
Hours
This is a seasonal role and working hours will vary depending on bookings, weather and demand.
During the main season, approximately 20–50 hours per week may be available.
The position will include two days off per week, although flexibility will be important during particularly busy periods.
Pay & BenefitsTraining & Probation
- Paid training beginning October 2026
- Full role commencing 1 November 2026
- Starting pay expected to be approximately R100 per hour, negotiable depending on experience and qualifications

Progression
Successful completion of the probation period will provide the opportunity to progress into a monthly-paid position with increased responsibility.
