Academic Support Associates Wanted
SOARing Scholars | South Africa | Part-Time
SOARing Scholars is looking for passionate, reliable and knowledgeable Academic Support Associates to join our growing tutoring team.
Our Academic Support Associates provide personalised academic support to learners across different school phases and subjects. If you enjoy helping learners understand difficult concepts, building their confidence and making learning meaningful, we would love to hear from you.

Applicants must be able to tutor more than one subject. You do not need to teach every subject listed, but you should be confident teaching multiple subjects within your areas of expertise.
About the Role
As an Academic Support Associate, you will:
- Provide one-on-one online academic support to learners.
- Deliver engaging, well-prepared lessons tailored to each learner's needs.
- Explain concepts clearly and adapt your teaching approach to suit individual learners.
- Help learners develop both their academic skills and confidence.
- Track learner progress and identify areas requiring additional support.
- Create a positive, encouraging and professional learning environment.
- Communicate reliably with the SOARing Scholars team regarding lessons and learner progress.
- Complete required administrative and post-lesson tasks.
Lesson Details
- Lesson duration: 1 hour
- Format: Online, one-on-one
- Typical lesson times: Afternoons and evenings between 14:00 and 21:00
- Days: Weekdays and Saturdays
- Saturday availability: Tutors must be willing to work Saturdays when required, depending on learner availability.
- Curriculum: CAPS and IEB learners
Lessons are scheduled according to learner and tutor availability. Tutors should therefore have some flexibility with afternoon, evening and Saturday sessions.
Teaching Materials
SOARing Scholars provides tutors with virtual textbooks and teaching resources, so tutors do not need to purchase or source their own teaching materials.
Tutors are welcome to supplement these resources with their own suitable teaching materials, activities and resources where appropriate.
Minimum Requirements
To apply, you must have:
- A Matric certificate.
- The ability to confidently teach more than one subject from our listed subjects.
- A laptop or desktop computer suitable for conducting online lessons.
- Stable and reliable internet access.
- A suitable environment in which to conduct professional online lessons.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- A genuine interest in supporting learners academically.
Important: Lessons may not be conducted using a cellphone. Tutors must have access to a suitable laptop or desktop computer.
