SUMMARY: POSITION INFO: About the Role We are seeking an experienced Truck Mechanic to join a leading commercial vehicle maintenance company in Belgium. This role is ideal for a skilled mechanic who enjoys diagnosing faults, servicing heavy commercial vehicles, and performing high-quality repairs. You will be responsible for maintaining a diverse fleet of trucks, ensuring all repairs are completed according to manufacturer specifications and Belgian safety standards while contributing to maximum fleet reliability and minimal downtime. Key Responsibilities: Vehicle Maintenance & Repairs Perform routine maintenance and servicing on commercial trucks. Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a variety of truck brands. Carry out repairs according to manufacturer specifications and legal requirements. Conduct preventative maintenance to maximise vehicle reliability and minimise downtime. Complete all repairs accurately and within established workshop procedures. Hydraulic, Pneumatic & Brake Systems Inspect, service, and repair hydraulic systems. Inspect, service, and repair pneumatic systems. Perform brake system inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Diagnose faults affecting vehicle performance and safety. Fabrication & Workshop Support Repair and replace truck curtains and tarpaulins where required. Carry out welding and fabrication work as needed. Read and interpret technical manuals, repair procedures, and manufacturer documentation. Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workshop. Support workshop productivity and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Technical Expertise: Candidates should have practical experience with: Commercial truck maintenance and repairs Mechanical fault finding and diagnostics Preventative maintenance and servicing Hydraulic system maintenance and repairs Pneumatic system maintenance and repairs Brake system diagnostics and repairs Welding and basic fabrication Repairing truck curtains and tarpaulins Reading and interpreting technical manuals and repair documentation Working independently while collaborating effectively within a workshop team Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will have: Proven experience as a Truck Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Mechanic , or Heavy Vehicle Technician . A recognised qualification in Automotive Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics, or a related trade (preferred). Minimum 3–5 years' hands-on experience maintaining heavy commercial vehicles. Strong knowledge of truck servicing, maintenance, and repair procedures. Experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic, and braking systems. Welding and fabrication experience will be advantageous. Strong diagnostic, fault-finding, and troubleshooting abilities. High attention to detail with an organised and professional approach to work. Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment. Basic Afrikaans proficiency is essential. Good English communication skills.
