TFC Maint Artisan Boilermaker

Purpose Of The Job To safely carry out preventive maintenance, structural repairs, and fabrication at the plant in line with documented work instructions and Boilermaking standards.

Balanced Scorecard Pillars, Roles And Responsibilities SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY:

• Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
• Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk
• Participate and comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
• Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate and report SHEQ status

Customers

• Ensure Customer Satisfaction

BUSINESS PROCESSES Work Execution

• Perform fabrication and repairs as outlined in the Work Order and Task List.
• Develop patterns and templates for structural components and liners.
• Execute welding, cutting (plasma/oxy-acetylene), and brazing tasks.
• Capture history and complete notifications to the required standard.
• Provide feedback to the Maintenance Specialist on task instruction variances.
• Communicate shortages of welding consumables, steel plates, or specialized equipment.

Unplanned Interventions

• Perform isolation and issue lockout documents.
• Attend to structural breakdowns or chute blockages quickly and safely.
• Capture all data related to the stoppage to aid in root cause analysis.
• Suggest ways to improve breakdown handling to the Maintenance Specialist.

Rotables & Asset Management

• Change out chutes, liners, and structural components.
• Create PM orders for replacement steel or fabricated items from stock.
• Complete "Damage" tags on return items (e.g., worn chutes for refurbishment).
• Physically transport damaged components to the lay-down area.

Job Skills Required training as per training matrix

Knowledge Demonstrate an understanding of

• Proficiency in Arc, MIG, and TIG welding; reading and interpreting structural drawings; development of complex shapes.
• Metallurgical properties; structural load limits; rigging and slinging techniques.

Requirements Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 / N3
• Boilermaker Trade Test
• 3 Years’ relevant experience as Artisan Boilermaker
• Additional Requirement:
• General conveyor maintenance
• Crusher maintenance
• Vibrating Screen maintenance
• Development and Manufacturing of chutes, cones, and structures
• Must be able to work from drawings
• Feeder maintenance experience
• Overhead crane maintenance
• Steel pipe and Slurry hose experience
• High Work Standards
• Must have own Tools
• Must have own transport
• Must have basic welding knowledge
