Technician — Appliance Repair
nan
Johannesburg, Gauteng
Job description
About the Company
Zibuke OnCall is a South African appliance repair company. We collect broken home appliances from customers, repair them at our workshop, and
deliver them back working perfectly. Our customers pay a monthly subscription and only pay when their appliance is fixed. We do not use
interviews. We believe you should be judged by what you can do, not how well you talk about yourself. Every employee proves themselves through
real work results. This Technician role is the entry point into our Technical Department — complete the Accountability Assessment and earn a
permanent position.
Job Description
We are looking for experienced appliance technicians to join our workshop team. This role begins with the Accountability Assessment: complete 48
real appliance repairs without any customer callback within 2 months, and your permanent Technician position is yours.
You start by doing the actual work at our workshop — repairing washing machines, fridges, ovens, TVs, microwaves, tumble dryers, freezers, air
fryers, gas heaters, and home theatre systems. We provide the tools, the parts, and the appliances that need fixing. You prove your skill through
real results.
This is not a training program. We expect you to already know how to repair appliances. If you can diagnose and fix appliances independently, this
is your opportunity to earn a permanent position with a competitive salary, performance bonuses, and a clear career path.
How the Assessment Works:
- You are given real customer appliances to repair at the workshop
- Complete 48 repairs without any customer callback within 2 months
- You earn R50 to R120 commission on every repair you complete during the assessment, whether you pass or not
- If you complete 28 repairs but not yet 48 by the end of month 2, you may be granted a conditional extension of up to 1 additional month to reach
48
- If you pass (48 repairs, no callbacks), you become a permanent Technician at R10,000 per month basic salary plus performance bonuses
- If you do not pass, you leave with all commission earned — no debt, no obligation
Working Hours:
Wednesday to Sunday, 9 hours per day. Monday and Tuesday off.
Compensation During Assessment (Phase 1):
- R50 per repair for simple repairs (basic appliances)
- Up to R120 per repair for complex repairs (TVs, ovens, home theatre systems, and similar)
- Commission is paid on every completed repair, whether you pass the assessment or not
- No basic salary during this phase
Compensation After Passing (Phase 2 — Permanent Technician):
- R10,000 per month basic salary
- Monthly performance bonus for repairs above 35 per month (bonus amount varies by volume and appliance types)
- Annual performance bonus calculated at the end of January each year, based on your accountability bar score
Key Responsibilities
- Complete appliance repairs at the Zibuke OnCall workshop to a high quality standard
- Diagnose and fix appliances including washing machines, fridges, ovens, TVs, microwaves, tumble dryers, freezers, air fryers, gas heaters, and
home theatre systems
- Complete 48 repairs without any customer callback within 2 months to earn permanent Technician status
- Treat every customer's appliance with care — every repair going back to a family represents your name and the Zibuke OnCall name
- Take full ownership of your repairs — no shortcuts, no cutting corners, no excuses
- Keep your word: show up on time, start jobs, finish them properly
- Approach every job with a genuine desire to help a family get back to normal
- Work within the accountability framework — your results speak for you
- Follow workshop procedures for quality control and repair documentation
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace
Requirements
- Proven experience in appliance repair (washing machines, fridges, ovens, TVs, microwaves, tumble dryers, freezers, air fryers, gas heaters, or
similar)
- Must already be able to repair appliances independently — this is not a training program or entry-level role
- South African residency with valid South African identification
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to finishing what you start
- Willingness to take full ownership of your work quality
- Must be willing to complete the Accountability Assessment (48 repairs without callback in 2 months) before becoming a permanent employee
- Must be willing to be assigned to the workshop closest to you (relocation may be required in some cases)
- Fluent in English and at least one other South African language
What We Look For
- Technical Skill: You can diagnose and fix real appliances independently. When you see a broken washing machine or a faulty fridge, you know what
to do.
- Reliability: You keep your word. When you say you will show up, you show up. When you start a repair, you finish it.
- Care: You treat every customer's appliance as if it belongs to someone you love. Quality workmanship every single time.
- Accountability: You own your repairs. No shortcuts, no excuses. You stand behind every job you complete.
- Generosity: You genuinely want to help families get back to normal after an appliance breaks. You show this through your work, not your words.
Benefits and Compensation
- Earn your permanent position — no interview required, just proof through your work
- R10,000 per month basic salary after passing the Accountability Assessment
- Monthly performance bonuses for repairs above 35 per month
- Annual performance bonuses based on your accountability score
- Commission earned during the assessment phase (R50–R120 per repair) is yours whether you pass or not
- Structured working hours: Wednesday to Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off
- Clear, transparent career path — prove yourself and earn the position
- Opportunity to progress into team leadership and management roles within the Technical Department
- Accountability-based culture where your earnings and career growth reflect your real contribution
