Systems Administrator, General (Remote)Tech Guru - IT for Accounting FirmsWhy This Role ExistsAt Tech Guru, we empower accounting firms with secure, high-performance IT that just works. Your mission as our Systems Administrator is to drive rock-solid reliability and security across our clients' systems, end to end, while living our core values of Caring, Accountable, Responsive, and Empathetic service.This is the generalist seat. You range across network, server, endpoint, and cloud, you own RMM standards, and you turn day-to-day operations into proactive, measurable wins.What Success Looks Like (Outcomes)

  • Near-Zero Unplanned Downtime: Reduce critical incidents for assigned clients to under 1 per quarter through proactive monitoring, scripting, and remediation.
  • Bulletproof RMM Standards: Design, document, and maintain RMM policies that keep patch compliance above 95 percent and catch 100 percent of priority alerts.
  • LMA Excellence: Lead yourself, and occasionally project pods, with clear priorities, on-time delivery, and transparent metrics.
  • License Optimization: Cut wasted spend on Duo, Microsoft 365, Datto, Pax8, Cove, SentinelOne, UniFi, and related platforms by more than 10 percent within 6 months.
  • Client Confidence: Provide timely, actionable insights that feed our Strategic Technology Planning and earn an average CSAT of 4.8+ out of 5.
  • Process Mastery: Create or update at least two Core Process documents each quarter, ensuring they are simpler than their predecessors.
  • Escalation Reduction: Collaborate with Service Desk and Project teams to drive a 20 percent decrease in repeat escalations year over year.

Day-to-day Responsibilities

  • Monitor, script, and remediate via our RMM toolset (Datto RMM, Automate, or similar).
  • Administer the network, server, and workstation layers, from UniFi switches to Windows Server roles.
  • Secure, tune, and report on Duo MFA, Microsoft 365, SentinelOne EDR, Datto/Cove backups, Pax8 licensing, and other SaaS services.
  • Investigate and resolve complex escalations while coaching frontline techs on prevention.
  • Generate concise, client-ready health reports and recommendations that fuel quarterly business reviews.
  • Track KPIs, surface trends, and own action plans that push downtime toward zero.

Must-have Qualifications

  • 5+ years administering Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and UniFi network infrastructure in an MSP or similar high-volume environment.
  • Proven scripting skills (PowerShell) for automation and reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with at least three of: Duo, Datto RMM, Cove, SentinelOne, UniFi.
  • Windows Hyper-V management experience, including management and command-line scripting.
  • Solid grasp of ITIL or EOS-style process discipline, with examples of documentation you have produced.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, comfortable supporting US-based clients.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting accounting or other compliance-heavy industries.
  • Certifications such as MCSA/MCSE, AZ-104, CompTIA Security+, or UniFi-related badges.
  • Dell professional engineer, or Dell server and management experience.
