Job description
Key responsibilities
- Manage the daily operation of onboard retail stores.
- Supervise, train and motivate retail staff.
- Create staff schedules and allocate duties.
- Monitor daily and monthly sales targets and performance.
- Drive sales through promotions, product knowledge and excellent customer service.
- Manage stock levels, inventory counts and product replenishment.
- Receive and check merchandise delivered onboard.
- Monitor pricing, promotions and displays.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve problems professionally.
- Ensure cash-handling and point-of-sale procedures are followed.
- Monitor stock shrinkage, losses and discrepancies.
- Prepare sales, inventory and operational reports.
- Ensure stores comply with cruise-line policies and maritime/customs regulations.
- Maintain attractive and well-organised shop displays.
- Work closely with the Cruise Director, Guest Services and other departments during promotions and special events.
- Assist with onboard sales events and passenger engagement.
- Train new employees and conduct performance evaluations.
- Ensure the store meets company standards for cleanliness, security and presentation.
Requirements:
- Previous retail management or supervisory experience.
- Experience managing sales teams and achieving targets.
- Strong knowledge of inventory and cash management.
- Excellent customer-service and communication skills.
- Strong sales and upselling ability.
- Good English; additional languages are advantageous.
- Good computer/POS skills.
- Ability to work long hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to live and work onboard for the duration of the contract.
- Previous cruise or luxury-retail experience is advantageous.
Pay: R25 000,00 - R35 000,00 per month
