SQL Optimization Specialist

Job description:

SQL Optimization Specialist Required at a Senior Level - Insurance and Finance Industry Experience preferable

• SQL Query & Procedure development
• SQL Query & Procedure optimization

Must have a minimum of 4 years SQL experience and relevant IT qualification

Database Development: Design, implement, and maintain relational databases using SQL and other database technologies. Create and modify database schema, tables and views.

Query Optimization: Analyse and optimize SQL queries to improve database performance and ensure efficient data retrieval. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, including indexing strategies and query tuning.

Stored Procedures and Functions: Develop and maintain stored procedures, functions, and triggers to support application requirements. Ensure data integrity, security, and consistency through appropriate use of SQL constructs.

Data Integration: Work closely with software developers, data analysts, and other stakeholders to integrate SQL-based applications with external systems and data sources. Implement data import/export processes and ensure seamless data flow between systems.

Database Security: Implement and enforce database security measures to protect sensitive data. Apply best practices for user authentication, authorization, and data encryption. Monitor and respond to security threats or vulnerabilities.

Database Maintenance: Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and database optimization. Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Conduct routine data validation and data clean-up processes.

Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain technical documentation, including database design, data models, and schema diagrams. Generate reports and provide data extracts as required by business users.

Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into efficient database designs. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users and developers as needed.

Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of information systems and electronic data processing.
