Job Advert Summary
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Shift Manager in overseeing daily cold storage warehouse operations, ensuring accurate stock handling, compliance with standard operating procedures, and the maintenance of safety, hygiene, and housekeeping standards. The role requires strong leadership and operational expertise to manage shift teams, maintain inventory accuracy, coordinate receiving and dispatch activities.### Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Food Safety requirements.
- Experience in receiving, pallet allocation, inventory control, and stock flow management within a cold storage environment.
- Proficiency in the use of scanners, movable racking systems, and cold store operational processes.
- Ability to work effectively in a freezer environment.
- Good physical health and fitness.
- Willingness and ability to work shifts, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Flexibility to work overtime when operational requirements dictate.
- Ability to follow lawful and reasonable instructions and lead by example in the workplace.
- Strong supervisory and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of discipline and accountability.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify, investigate, and resolve variances.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
- Commitment to maintaining safety, quality, and service standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise daily shift operations and ensure activities are executed in accordance with company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure stock is loaded accurately according to customer orders, with all supporting documentation completed and verified.
- Verify that all incoming stock is received, checked, and offloaded in line with delivery documentation and company requirements.
- Monitor and coordinate loading schedules to ensure operational efficiency and on-time dispatches.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, hygiene, and workplace safety throughout the warehouse.
- Conduct daily inspections of loading areas, vehicles, forklifts, and reach trucks to ensure operational readiness and compliance.
- Participate in weekly and monthly stock takes, mock recalls, variance investigations, and inventory reconciliation processes.
- Process and invoice loads accurately using Translution and Syspro systems.
- Identify and investigate stock discrepancies and implement corrective actions where required.
- Supervise, motivate, and support shift employees to achieve productivity, quality, and compliance targets.
