Sanlam Risk and Savings (SRS), which is one of the businesses within SLS, offers Risk & Savings solutions to various segments within the market. What will you do?

Become part of a team with technical curiosity, problem-solving capability, and a passion for modern engineering practices while supporting business-critical calculation systems and modernizing legacy C++ calculation engines into scalable C#/.NET services and APIs.

The successful incumbent will be a highly experienced Senior C# Developer and will bring strong C#/.NET engineering capability, technical leadership, quality discipline, BAU support awareness, and responsible use of Agentic AI and AI-assisted development tools.

As a C# Developer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Partner with project, BAU, architecture, testing, and operations teams to deliver reliable and maintainable solutions from design through deployment.
  • Analyze legacy C++ calculation engines, business rules, integrations, and data flows to support modernization initiatives.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable, testable, and maintainable C#/.NET services and APIs.
  • Own and manage source code repositories using GitHub and DevOps best practices.
  • Provide technical recommendations, effort estimates, and solution design input.
  • Design, build, test, and support high-quality software solutions and integrations.
  • Implement automated testing approaches including unit, integration, regression, and comparison testing.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative improvements.
  • Maintain solution, deployment, system, interface, and data model documentation.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate developers and contribute to engineering standards.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate analysis, testing, documentation, and delivery.
  • Provide production support and standby assistance where required. What will make you successful in this role?

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Cloud, Agile, or DevOps certifications will be an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years’ hands-on experience in C#/.NET development within enterprise environments.
  • Experience in application modernization, legacy rewrites, migration, and/or re-platforming initiatives.
  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and GitHub.
  • Experience in Agile delivery (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe).
  • Experience in C++
  • SQL Server and database development experience will be an advantage.

Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of C# and .NET.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server, data modelling, and integration patterns.
  • Knowledge of AWS services, cloud-native and cloud-based applications.
  • Knowledge of application monitoring, observability, and production support practices.
  • Strong understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, design patterns, and software architecture.
  • Understanding of UML diagrams and technical documentation.
