Senior AV Technician: Northern Suburbs, Cape Town

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Audio Visual (AV) Technician to join our client’s team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a wide range of audio-visual equipment for our clients. This role requires a hands-on individual with strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a customer-focused approach.

Our client operates primarily in the commercial retail and business industry, providing Digital Signage, Home Theatre Systems, DSTV Solutions, Audio and Video Distributions, Intercom Systems, Boardroom Solutions, CCTV Systems and PA Systems services to its clients.

The key responsibilities of the position include:

• Install, configure, and commission audio-visual equipment, including displays, audio systems, projectors, video conferencing equipment, and related peripherals.
• Connect and manage cabling to ensure neat, safe, and efficient installations.
• Test all AV systems to ensure optimal functionality and performance before handover.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues with AV equipment both on-site and remotely where required.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure equipment remains in excellent working condition.
• Provide technical support and guidance to clients, ensuring their AV requirements are met effectively.
• Liaise with clients to understand project requirements and deliver professional installation and support services.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, maintenance schedules, repairs, and installations.
• Ensure all equipment is stored, transported, and secured correctly.
• Adhere to all company health and safety policies and industry best practices.
• Represent the company professionally while working on client sites.

Minimum Requirements include:

• Minimum of 4 years' experience in an Audio-Visual Technician or similar role.
• Proven experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting AV systems.
• Strong knowledge of audio, video, display, and conferencing technologies.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Own reliable transport (essential).
• Willingness to travel to client sites when required.

Desirable Skills include:

• Experience with video conferencing platforms and control systems.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals related to AV installations.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
