Job description

Key Responsibilities1. Workshop Operations Oversight

  • Plan, prioritize, and allocate repair and maintenance jobs.
  • Monitor workflow to ensure timely completion of work orders.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, tools, and workshop resources.
  • Track job progress and proactively resolve delays or bottlenecks.

2. Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise, coach, and support automotive technicians and apprentices.
  • Assign tasks based on skill level and workload.
  • Conduct on-the-job training and mentor junior staff.
  • Promote teamwork, discipline, and accountability within the workshop.

3. Technical Oversight

  • Provide expert guidance on diagnostics, repairs, and troubleshooting.
  • Review and verify completed work for quality assurance.
  • Assist with complex or critical repair jobs when required.
  • Assist with day to day repair work when workflow increases.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and standards.

4. Quality Control & Compliance

  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Enforce adherence to safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct final inspections before vehicle release.
  • Maintain proper documentation and service records.

5. Customer & Stakeholder Support

  • Support service advisors in explaining technical issues and repair solutions.
  • Address customer concerns related to repair quality or timelines.
  • Coordinate with parts and service departments for efficient operations.

6. Inventory & Resource Management

  • Monitor use of tools, equipment, and workshop supplies.
  • Coordinate with parts department to ensure availability of required components.
  • Report shortages, damages, or maintenance needs for equipment.

7. Performance & Reporting

  • Track workshop KPIs (productivity, efficiency, turnaround time, quality).
  • Prepare reports on workshop performance and improvement initiatives.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement corrective actions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: R14 000,00 - R16 000,00 per month

Education:

  • Certificate (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Team leadership: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Automotive mechanical: 5 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Drivers licence (Preferred)
  • Automotive trade certificate (Preferred)
