Introduction

Are you a SAIPA-qualified Accountant looking for an opportunity where you can take ownership, work across the full finance function, and make a real impact? Picup, part of the Karooooo Group, is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant / Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for a SAIPA professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants exposure to financial reporting, taxation, reconciliations, budgeting, audits, and operational finance.

Job description

• Managing and reviewing the weekly driver payments process.
• Preparing cash flow reports and daily bank balances.
• Preparing sales and purchase invoices, journals, and cashbooks.
• Performing bank, creditors, payroll, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Managing VAT reconciliations, VAT201 submissions, and VAT audits.
• Preparing provisional tax calculations, IRP6 and ITR14 submissions.
• Assisting with annual financial statements and external audits.
• Supporting the annual budgeting process.
• Maintaining inventory and sales records for the internal shop.
• Providing support and guidance to the wider Finance team.

Minimum requirements

• SAIPA qualification or SAIPA articles completed (highly preferred).
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Audit experience is essential.
• Strong knowledge of VAT, tax submissions, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with Navision or a similar ERP/accounting system will be advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• A hands-on individual who takes ownership and thrives in a collaborative environment.
