Safety, Health and Environmental Lead

We are looking for an experienced Safety, Health and Environmental Lead to implement and drive a proactive safety culture, ensuring that the company operates in a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible manner whilst ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements. The successful candidate will be an experienced SHE professional with expert knowledge and the ability to lead SHE initiatives through their professionalism and expertise.

Experience

• Degree/BTech in safety management and/or related field with strong operational experience in the relevant field
• Certificate in SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, NOSA or equivalent Safety Management qualification would be advantageous
• Membership of SAIOSH would be advantageous
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role
• Experience within manufacturing or a similar environment
• Experience of conducting workplace inspections, incident investigations, risk assessments and safety audits
• Knowledge of:
• Occupational health and safety law and legislation
• Coordinating Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Audits
• Incident investigation procedures
• Risk assessment methodologies
• Fire prevention and emergency response procedures
• ISO45001, ISO9001, ISO14001

• Ability to provide leadership in SHE initiatives by demonstrating professionalism and expertise
• Ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation
• Ability to influence the behaviour of others
• Being assertive and confident enough to address unsafe acts and behaviours is essential
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to conduct physical workplace inspections
• Drivers Licence and own transport to move between sites as required
• Willingness to attend meetings, training sessions and emergencies out of normal working hours
