Registered Nurse (Night Duty) – Frail Care & Retirement Village

Medwell Northmed is looking for a compassionate, experienced Registered Nurse to join our Frail Care and Retirement Village team on night duty.

Location: Northriding, Randburg.

Minimum Requirements

• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
• Previous experience in frail care, geriatric care, retirement villages, or long-term care is advantageous.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a multidisciplinary team during night shifts.
• Sound knowledge of medication management, infection control, and nursing best practices.

Key Responsibilities

As the Nursing Supervisor on shift, you will:

• Lead and supervise the nursing and caregiver team.
• Deliver safe, compassionate, and high-quality nursing care to residents.
• Complete resident assessments and update care plans as required.
• Administer medication accurately according to prescribed schedules.
• Manage admissions, emergencies, incidents, and hospital transfers.
• Ensure accurate nursing documentation and shift handovers.
• Monitor resident wellbeing through regular rounds and clinical observations.
• Ensure compliance with nursing protocols, infection prevention, and health and safety standards.
• Coordinate staffing, delegate duties, and provide guidance and support to caregivers.
• Promote teamwork, professionalism, and excellent resident-centred care.
• Maintain ward organisation, equipment readiness, medication stock, and operational efficiency.

Shift Pattern: 5 days on / 2 days off

Working Hours: 18:00 – 06:00
