Registered Nurse (Labour Ward)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients during labour, delivery, and the immediate post-delivery period.
• Monitor maternal and foetal wellbeing and promptly identify and escalate any deviations from normal findings.
• Assist obstetricians and other healthcare professionals during normal and assisted deliveries.
• Prepare patients and equipment for obstetric procedures and emergency interventions.
• Perform ongoing assessments and implement appropriate nursing interventions within the scope of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
• Provide emotional support and education to mothers and their families throughout the childbirth experience.
• Assist with neonatal care immediately after birth, including basic neonatal resuscitation where required.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely patient documentation.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold hospital policies and professional standards.
• Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

• Grade 12
• Must be willing to work shifts as required by Units
• Adaptable and able to work effectively in a team
• Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a Registered Nurse in a Labour Ward environment with a Private Hospital
• Diploma or Degree in General Nursing and Midwifery.
• Advanced Midwifery qualification (Advantageous)
• Current proof of SANC registration
