Job description
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Anesthetic /Floor Nurse for Locum to join our dynamic theatre team in Cure Day Mbombela. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing surgical and medical procedures requiring anaesthesia. This role requires excellent clinical knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for anaesthetic procedures and provide reassurance and support.
- Assist anaesthetists before, during, and after procedures.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and clinical condition throughout the perioperative period.
- Ensure anaesthetic equipment, medications, and consumables are available, functional, and correctly prepared.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations and provide appropriate patient care.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development
Minimum Requirements
- Registered Nurse qualification
- Ability to work shifts on weekends and night
- Current registration with the relevant Nursing Council
- Qualification or certification in Perioperative/Theatre Nursing (advantageous)
- Minimum of 2–3 years' experience in an anaesthetic or operating theatre environment
- Sound knowledge of anaesthetic procedures, equipment, and patient monitoring
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications will be advantageous
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and on-call duties when required
