We are looking for a motivated and caring Dental Assistant who is passionate about helping patients feel comfortable and supporting the clinical team in delivering excellent care.

Position Summary

The Dental Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the practice by assisting the dentist during procedures, preparing treatment rooms, maintaining infection control standards, and creating a positive experience for every patient.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms before each patient appointment.
• Assist the dentist during general dental, restorative, cosmetic, orthodontic, and emergency procedures.
• Sterilise instruments and maintain strict infection prevention and control protocols.
• Prepare dental materials, instruments, and equipment for procedures.
• Take and process dental radiographs where permitted and trained.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and assist with treatment documentation.
• Ensure treatment rooms are clean, organised, and fully stocked.
• Monitor and manage clinical stock levels and report shortages.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care as instructed by the dentist.
• Assist with laboratory work, impressions, and model preparation where required.
• Support patient comfort before, during, and after treatment.
• Perform opening and closing duties in the clinical area.
• Work closely with the reception team to ensure efficient patient flow.
• Assist with maintaining equipment and reporting any faults.

Minimum Requirements

• Dental Assistant qualification or relevant clinical training.
• Registered with the HPCSA.
• Previous experience in a dental practice is advantageous but not necessary as this is aninternship post
• Knowledge of infection control and sterilisation procedures.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.
• Professional appearance and excellent work ethic.
