Job description
We are looking for a hands-on Quality & Food Safety Officer to join our bakery and confectionery manufacturing operation.
We are looking for someone who enjoys being on the production floor, understands food manufacturing, and can help us continuously improve the quality, consistency and food safety of our products.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process, from raw materials to finished products.
- Conduct daily production-floor quality and food safety checks.
- Ensure products are manufactured according to approved recipes, specifications and quality standards.
- Monitor GMP, hygiene, allergen controls, traceability and HACCP requirements.
- Identify quality problems and non-conformances and work with the production team to determine and correct the root cause.
- Check product consistency, including appearance, weight, portioning, finishing, packaging and other relevant specifications.
- Maintain quality and food-safety records and documentation.
- Assist with internal audits, corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Monitor cleaning and sanitation standards within the facility.
- Assist with supplier/raw-material quality issues where required.
- Help investigate customer complaints and implement preventative actions.
- Train and coach production employees on quality, hygiene and food-safety requirements.
- Work closely with production management to raise the overall quality standard of the business.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualification in Food Technology, Food Science, Consumer Science or a related field is preferred.
- Approximately 1–3 years’ experience in food manufacturing, quality assurance or food safety.
- Bakery, confectionery, desserts or similar food-production experience would be an advantage.
- Working knowledge of HACCP, GMP and food-safety systems.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable working hands-on in a production environment.
- Able to identify problems and follow through until they are resolved.
- Good record-keeping and communication skills.
- Someone who takes pride in producing a consistently high-quality product.
