We invite applications for the position of Quality Controller at our Howden Africa Compressors & Turbines Division in Sasolburg. The Quality Controller will ensure that products, processes, services, and projects meet specified quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations. Drive all NCR and root cause investigations with timeous close-out of NCRs. Supplier audits, and Improvement, and upkeep of ISO 9001 quality system and documents.

What Will You Do?

• Develop quality control plans (QCP’s) and inspection protocols for projects and repair work.
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of materials, equipment, and completed work.
• Verify dimensions, tolerances, clearances, fits, and alignments using precision measuring equipment.
• Verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, procedures, and standards.
• Ensure all work activities adhere to quality plans, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and applicable codes and standards (OEM Standards)
• Perform inspections and witness hold points at suppliers.
• Review and maintain inspection reports, checklists, test records, and quality dossiers.
• Ensure traceability of parts, materials, certificates, and inspection records.
• Verify calibration status of measuring and testing equipment.
• Ensure adherence to ISO 9001, customer requirements, and company quality procedures.
• Participate in internal, external, customer, and certification audits.
• Detect defects, deviations, and non-conforming work.
• Liaise with engineers, supervisors, contractors, clients, and third-party inspectors regarding quality matters.
• Monitor implementation of corrective actions.
• Verify effectiveness of actions taken to prevent recurrence of quality issues.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Drive timeous and effective closure of NCRs with accurate RCAs.
• Perform periodic audits on suppliers (and new suppliers) to ensure quality is maintained.

Your Experience Should Be…

• Trade tested and qualified Fitter.
• 3 years’ experience in QA/QC within the rotating equipment environment, especially compressors and turbines.
• Must have experience in using various measuring & test equipment such as micrometers, vernier callipers, etc.
• ISO 9001 Quality qualification
• Certificate/Diploma in Quality Control for manufacturing will be advantageous.
• Experience in engineering workshops and related quality control requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with good report writing skills.
• Proficient with MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
