Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide technical knowledge on studies and EPCM projects in the field of process engineering.

  • Design experience in one or more of the following: copper, gold, PGM & chrome, or base metals processing, specifically concentrator plants

  • Experience in the design and management of test work programmes to support confirmation of design parameters during the various project phases\

  • Typical duties & responsibilities:

    • Prepare process design specifications containing all components necessary to satisfy contract requirements: interpretation of test work reports to generate and confirm the process design criteria (PDC), process description, process design basis, configuration and other studies, mass balance, process flow diagrams (PFD), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), process equipment specifications, process equipment lists, process line~, valve~ and instrument lists, control philosophy and functional specification
    • Participate in plot plan review and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) reviews in regard to plant safety/operability/Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assignment
    • Participate in bid evaluations for equipment and check vendor data for equipment when received
    • Assist with development of turnover packages
    • Analyse and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
    • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
    • Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff
    • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards
    • Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
    • May need to travel to attend to business related matters Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree (process engineering, metallurgical engineering, or chemical engineering degree)
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in design of concentrators and mineral processing plants
  • Commissioning and /or operational experience in addition to design experience will be beneficial
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job Other Job Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Process Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering degree
  • ECSA professional registration or registration in the applicable field will be beneficial

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Salary Range: R798,000.00 - R1,482,000.00
