Basic Salary range: R30k to R35k per month

Role Description

This full-time on-site role is based in Montgomery Park, Randburg and requires a dedicated Nursing Manager to oversee and coordinate nursing care for residents. The position entails supervising nursing staff, ensuring compliance with care standards, and managing daily care delivery. The Nursing Manager will advocate for quality patient care, lead critical care initiatives, and collaborate with medical teams to maintain a safe and nurturing environment for residents.

Minimum qualifications and experience required:

·  Matric (grade 12)

·  Diploma in General Nursing

·  Degree in nursing would be advantageous

·  Qualification or experience in geriatric nursing

·  Minimum 7 years' experience working as a Professional (Registered nurse)

·  Minimum 3 years' experience working in a supervisory capacity

·  Minimum 2 years' experience in nursing administration

·  Intermediate level on MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook.

Other requirements:

·  Own vehicle and valid drivers' licence – not negotiable

·  Must be physically fit.

·  Proficient in English (written and spoken).

Skills and attributes required

·  Must have good organisational skills and be able to guide, teach and manage all levels of subordinates.

·  Must have above average communication and time/priority management skills to ensure that nursing management and administrative tasks are completed on time and correctly.

·  Must have above average interpersonal skills in to develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with relevant stakeholders (including but not limited to residents, their family members and visitors).

·  Must be punctual and practice good time keeping.

·  Must be courteous and professional at all times.

·  Must maintain the standards and image of the organisation.

·  Must have above average ability to work under pressure.

·  Must have above average ability to solve problems

·  Must be able to work independently

·  Must have leadership skills and be able to guide, teach and manage all levels of subordinates

·  Must be available for emergencies after hours, work overtime and at weekends when required.

Key performance areas of the role, include, but are not limited to:

Administration

·  Admission of residents

·  Marketing and promotion of the care facility as and when required

·  Arrange and conduct interviews and / or assessments with prospective residents and/or their families

·  Maintaining of all nursing records, including but not limited to nursing policies, resident record and medication registers

·  Ordering and control of all stock, supplies, medication and equipment

·  Evaluation and assessment of residents on an ongoing basis according to legislative regulations

·  Compiling reports on a weekly and / or monthly basis

·  Conducting weekly and or daily meetings with all nursing staff

·  Investigating any complaints or concerns raised by residents and/or family members

·  Compile and maintain duty rosters

·  Manager WCA claims

·  Assist with annual budget preparation

·  Ensure all nursing employee records are correct and adequately maintained.

·  Assist with the recruitment of nursing staff

Risk Management

·  Risk assessment to be done monthly or if there is a significant event.

·  Maintain the risk register monthly

·  Monthly risk reports on falls, pressure sores, wounds, restraints, abuse and occupancy.

Management of subordinates

·         Ensure that regular meetings take place with all nursing staff.

·         Ensure that all poor performance issues are dealt with fairly and effectively in accordance with the applicable policy and procedure

·         Ensure that all disciplinary issues are dealt with fairly and effectively in accordance with the applicable policy and procedure

·         Ensure that performance assessments are done timeously and effectively in accordance with the applicable policy and procedure

·         Ensure that all grievances are dealt with efficiently and appropriately in accordance

·         Ensure that all subordinates tasks are appropriately carried out in accordance with their job descriptions through regular monitoring and feedback.

·         Implement and evaluate the necessary training and on-the-job instruction when required.

·         Manage industrial relations matters with the advice and assistance of the HR Msnager

Holistic Care of Residents

·  Maintain and update policies and procedures for nursing care.

·  Maintain standards of optimal patient care for all residents in the care centre.

·  Adequate staffing of the unit by all categories of staff to ensure 24-hour care. 

·  Draw up leave plan to ensure adequate cover of nursing unit.

·  Compile nursing care plans for all residents in the nursing unit.

·  Conduct regular ward rounds to ensure good nursing care and that the residents are receiving their treatment and to listen to their complaints.

·  Co-ordinate resident care by communication and liaison with doctors and hospitals/clinics

·  Ensure adequate and attractive serving of meals to residents and the feeding of helpless residents.

·  Supervise the administration of all medication and nursing procedures according to scope of practice.

·  Assess and supervise the care of the residents in the Village as indicated/required.

Continuous professional development and in-service training

Disaster Management

Any other tasks that may be required from time to time
