Mechanical Artisan / Pump Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on booster pump systems.
• Diagnose and repair pump, motor, valve, pipework and mechanical failures.
• Remove, overhaul, refurbish and reinstall pumps and associated equipment.
• Carry out alignment, commissioning and functional testing.
• Inspect bearings, seals, impellers, couplings and mechanical components.
• Complete maintenance reports, inspection sheets and job cards.
• Ensure compliance with SANS standards and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Work safely within airport operational environments.
• Supervise and mentor the Artisan Assistant.
• Assist with emergency breakdowns when required.

Minimum Requirements

• SAQA-recognised Trade Test in Mechanical Fitting or Millwright.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in pump maintenance and repairs.
• Proven experience working on booster pump systems, centrifugal pumps and associated mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical manuals.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Medically fit to work on construction and industrial sites.

Preferred Skills

• Fault-finding and diagnostics.
• Pump alignment and balancing.
• Valve maintenance.
• Preventative maintenance planning.
• Good communication and report writing skills.

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Pretoria, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
