Job Advert: Machine Operator
Purpose of the Position
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring plastic injection moulding machines to ensure efficient production of quality products according to company standards and production requirements. The role ensures machines run safely, products meet quality specifications, and production targets are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate plastic injection moulding machines according to production requirements.
- Ensure machines are running at the correct settings and parameters.
- Perform start-up checks and monitor machine performance during production.
- Conduct regular quality checks on products and identify defects or deviations.
- Ensure products meet required specifications and quality standards.
- Perform basic machine troubleshooting and report faults to the Shift Leader or Maintenance team.
- Assist with machine changeovers, mould changes, and material changes when required.
- Ensure correct handling of raw materials and finished products.
- Maintain accurate production records, check sheets, and reports.
- Remove excess material, trim components, and perform finishing activities where required.
- Pack and label finished products according to customer and production requirements.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards within the production area.
- Follow all health, safety, and company procedures.
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment faults, and production issues immediately.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve production efficiency.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric (Math and English) essential.
- Previous experience working in a plastic injection moulding manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 1–3 years’ experience as a machine operator or similar manufacturing role.
- Knowledge of injection moulding machines and production processes.
- Basic Injection moulding certificate.
- Ability to understand basic machine settings and operating procedures.
- Experience with quality inspections and defect identification.
- Ability to read and complete production documentation.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work shifts, overtime, and weekends when required.
- Physically fit and able to work in a manufacturing environment.
