Job description
Your Tasks
- Operational Execution -
- Ensure that 3PLs execute primary inbound logistics, warehousing, secondary transportation and reverse logistics operations in line with procedures and policies outlined by the BDF standards and BDF customer requirements
Inbound Logistics
- Manage the Carrier/Freight Forwarding & Clearing Agents responsible for the shipping of goods for both Sea and Air Freight from source to destination
- Coordinate the document and information flow between BDF and 3PLs using the Transporeon tool or other
- Ensure accurate and timely shipping related information is shared by 3PLs and with the business e.g. ETA, Port activity, changes to ETA etc.
- Be the central point for all communication related to shipping of goods for the RSA business
- Resolve any daily queries that arise internally and externally for the portfolio
Warehouse
- Monitor capacities for all warehouses daily to ensure that there is sufficient capacity to meet business requirements
- Responsible for the overall process of IDT (Inter Depot Transfers) execution i.e. advance vehicle booking from 3PLs, load planning by depots, create PO/outbound delivery, communication to stakeholders and managing exceptions timely to reduce or eliminate impact to Service Level
- Lead weekly operational meetings with 3PLs to resolve challenges and plan for the future
- Execute and manage all 3PM (rework supplier) Logistics related topics together with the 3PL
- Resolve daily stock discrepancies in all storage locations together with the 3PL to ensure stock accuracy results are maintained.
- Ensure physical destruction is executed for all authorised damaged stock
- Resolve or flag to the Logistics Specialist any daily ERP interface issues with LSP
Secondary Transportation
- Follow up on queries with 3PLs for exceptions e.g. late deliveries, incomplete deliveries etc.
- Record service level failures by 3PLs in order to analyse and challenge deviations from system and process adherence
Reverse Logistics
- Execute and manage reverse logistics activities in conjunction the 3PL and Customer Claims Coordinator
- Ensure returns storage locations are cleared daily by the 3PL interface on SAP including physically ensuring that the returns cages in the warehouse are cleared
- Process all customer claim
Other:
- Provide operational, system and reporting support during stock takes
- Execute month, quarter and year-end activities to ensure all topics are closed
- Reporting
- Monitor periodically and drive that (K)PIs are met by the 3PLs
- Validate and analyse Logistics related (K)PI data with 3PLs before publishing
- Input 3PL K(PI) data for the monthly publication of the Logistics K(PI) dashboard
- 3P Billing
- Validate and authorize 3PL Billing using itemised billing reports
- Clearly understand the agreed framework and pricelists for all billed components
- Check and approve all relevant 3PL invoices
- Continuous Improvements and Projects
- Identify inefficiencies operationally and otherwise and recommend optimal solutions
- Ensure sustained execution of implemented continuous improvement initiatives while adhering to published local internal & 3PL controls as well as BDF global guidelines, and flag any material deviations from these when identified
Your Profile
- Experience
2-3 work experience years ideally in FMCG
- Qualification
University or similar degree – ideally in B.Admin/B.Com
- Skills
- High Level of attention to detail
- Computer literate i.e. proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Power point)
- Must be proactive, takes initiative.
- Multitasking and excellent organizational skills, clear communication (oral & written) and interpersonal skills.

- Good knowledge of SAP module. Ideally module LE. SD and MM of advantage
