Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Junior Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of diesel-powered trucks and forklifts, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and servicing on diesel trucks and forklifts
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using diagnostic equipment
Carry out repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, and hydraulic components
Conduct pre-delivery inspections and quality checks
Maintain accurate service records and documentation
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Keep work area clean and organized
Participate in ongoing training and development programs

Essential Requirements

Minimum 2 years relevant experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance
Valid Code 10 or Code 14 driver's license (essential)
Must reside in or around Durban area
Trade qualification in Motor Mechanics or equivalent certification
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
Ability to read technical manuals and wiring diagrams
Physical fitness to handle heavy components and work in various conditions
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with specific truck brands (MAN, Hino, UD)
Forklift maintenance experience
Computer literacy for diagnostic software
Additional certifications in hydraulics or electrical systems
