Junior Consultant

Introduction

NBC Holdings is a leading force in the South African employee benefits arena, providing a comprehensive range of employee benefits, products and services to our valued clients.

The Junior Consultant is to assist in the management of a portfolio of funds in accordance with SLA requirements, the Fund Rules and Fund policies and procedures.

Key Outputs:

Plan and prepare for fund meetings

• Prepare for trustee meetings 1 month before the trustee meeting.
• Compile trustee meeting agenda packs 3 weeks before meeting for senior consultant to quality assure.
• Assist in the arrangement and facilitation of pre-meetings with relevant departments, 1 month before the meeting.

Co-ordinate Trustee Meeting logistics:

• Attend trustee meetings and compile minutes within 5 working days after meeting for senior consultant to quality assure.
• Attend to action items and queries arising from trustee meetings immediately after each meeting.

Provide service to clients:

• Coordinate service delivery to clients.
• Assist in the communication with clients.
• Action Section 14 transfers.
• Co-ordinate Trustee training.
• Monitor compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and bodies.
• Understanding the SLA, fund rules and structure thereof.

Leadership and Team Development:

• Lead and inspire the team to perform at their highest potential by setting clear expectations and offering regular feedback.
• Encourage professional development opportunities, mentoring employees for future leadership roles.
• Ensure that all employees adhere to company values, fostering a culture of transparency, collaboration, and innovation.

Demonstrate business understanding

• Demonstrate an understanding of the business of NBC.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the role of consultant.
• Independently research, identify, and generate potential leads to expand the customer base and support revenue generation.

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year experience in Employee Benefits.
• Basic understanding and knowledge of investments.
• Industry understanding – clients and competitors.
• Trade Union understanding: roles, structures, protocols.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Qualifications:

• A relevant Diploma or NQF 6 Qualification (further studies are advantageous)
• FAIS Compliant with RE5 completed

Skills & Behavioural attributes:

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong problem-solving abilities to address complex client needs effectively.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
• Proficiency in relevant software (MS Office Suite) and tools used in Employee Benefits Consulting.
• Legislation: all or relevant parts of Pensions Fund Act and regulations, Income Tax Act, Assurance Act, Trust Act, National Credit Act, Children's Act, Labour Relations Act.
• Regulatory Boards (SARS, FSCA, Pensions Fund Adjudication) structures, roles and processes.
