About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Junior Bookkeeper to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organized, eager to learn, and passionate about accounting and finance. The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day financial administration of the business while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Capture and process supplier invoices and credit notes.
• Process customer invoices and receipts.
• Reconcile bank accounts, petty cash, and credit card statements.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Process supplier payments.
• Prepare and reconcile creditor and debtor accounts.
• Assist with month-end and year-end financial procedures.
• Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems.
• Support payroll administration where required.
• Assist with VAT preparation and statutory submissions.
• Follow up on outstanding customer accounts.
• Generate financial reports as requested.
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
• Provide administrative support to the finance department.

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma or Certificate in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or Finance.
• 1–3 years' bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software (Pastel, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar).
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines and work independently.

Advantageous

• Experience working in the retail, wholesale, or distribution industry.
• Knowledge of VAT and South African accounting practices.
• Experience with inventory or stock-related accounting.
