Junior Bookkeeper - Accounts Receivable

Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Bookkeeper with strong Debtors experience to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customer accounts, accurately processing and reconciling debtor transactions, monitoring outstanding balances, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Key Responsibilities
1. Trade Debtors
- Reconcile customer accounts and statements.
- Allocate customer payments accurately.
- Verify and process customer claims.
- Process customer credit notes, including rebates and discounts deducted from payments.
- Finalise customer statements and submit monthly statements to customers.
- Attend to and resolve customer queries and account discrepancies.
- Follow up on outstanding customer balances and payments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date debtor records.
2. Monthly Reporting & Ad-Hoc Duties
- Assist with forecasting monthly customer payments.
- Report on payment variances, outstanding balances and non-payments.
- Follow up on overdue collections.
- Liaise with Distribution Depots regarding claims, IRNs, PODs and other outstanding queries.
- Maintain accurate filing of credit notes, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
- Provide general bookkeeping and finance support as required.
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12.
- 2–3 years' experience in Debtors / Debtors Reconciliations.
- Experience with Pastel Evolution.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Previous experience in the FMCG industry will be advantageous.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
