Installation Electrician

JOB PURPOSE

The Installation Electrician is responsible for the installation, termination, connection, inspection, and repair of electrical equipment while maintaining high standards of workmanship, quality, and compliance with Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø Perform installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of low-voltage electrical systems and associated equipment in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

Ø Install, terminate, joint, and test power cables, control cables, and associated electrical systems.

Ø Carry out electrical installation activities for low-voltage substations, switchgear, transformers, protection and control systems, and related infrastructure.

Ø Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and technical documentation.

Ø Perform cable routing, glanding, termination, dressing, and identification according to project specifications and quality requirements.

Ø Conduct electrical testing, inspections, and verification activities under supervision, including continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, and functional checks.

Ø Assist with pre-commissioning, commissioning, energisation, and fault-finding activities on low-voltage installations.

Ø Ensure all work is performed in compliance with electrical safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, isolation procedures, and low-voltage safety requirements.

Ø Follow approved risk assessments, method statements, and safe work procedures before and during all activities.

Ø Maintain a high standard of workmanship and ensure installations comply with quality standards and client requirements.

Ø Identify defects, installation issues, and non-conformances and report them to the Site Supervisor or Construction Manager.

Ø Safely operate and maintain electrical tools, test equipment, and specialised installation equipment.

Ø Ensure correct handling, storage, and protection of electrical materials, equipment, and components.

Ø Maintain accurate work records, inspection checklists, test results, and installation documentation.

Ø Support troubleshooting and corrective maintenance activities during project execution and operational phases.

Ø Work effectively with engineers, supervisors, technicians, subcontractors, and commissioning teams to achieve project objectives.

Ø Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, quality inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ø Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure work areas are safe, clean, and organised.

Ø Travel regularly between company sites to perform inspection, maintenance, and repairs.

Ø Perform any other reasonable duties as required to support project delivery and company objectives.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION

Ø Qualified Installation Electrician (wireman licence) with a valid electrical trade certificate.

Ø Electrical Engineering qualification (N3/N6, National Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent) will be advantageous.

Ø Minimum 5 years in Electrical Engineering (Low Voltage) industry.

Ø Sound knowledge ISO 9001 2015.
