Role Overview
A large and established international brand, with its Head Office based in Durban, is seeking an experienced HR Manager to oversee and manage the full Human Resources function.
This is a hands-on HR Generalist role requiring a strong operational HR background and the ability to support management and employees across the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective HR practices, sound employee relations, legislative compliance and consistent implementation of company policies and procedures.
Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral HR Management
- Manage the full HR function across the business.
- Provide HR guidance and support to senior management, line managers and employees.
- Ensure HR policies, procedures and practices are consistently implemented.
- Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation and personnel files.
- Prepare HR reports and provide management with relevant workforce information.
Employee & Industrial Relations
- Manage employee relations matters, including grievances, misconduct, absenteeism and performance concerns.
- Advise managers on appropriate disciplinary processes and procedures.
- Facilitate disciplinary enquiries, counselling sessions and grievance processes.
- Manage CCMA matters and assist with dispute resolution where required.
- Ensure compliance with the BCEA, LRA, EEA and other relevant South African labour legislation.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage the recruitment process from vacancy approval through to appointment.
- Coordinate advertising, screening, interviewing, reference checks and offers of employment.
- Manage employee onboarding, induction and probation processes.
- Ensure job descriptions and organisational structures remain current.
Performance Management
- Coordinate and manage performance management processes.
- Support managers in addressing poor performance and implementing performance improvement plans.
- Assist with probationary and annual performance reviews.
- Identify development requirements arising from performance discussions.
Training & Development
- Assist in identifying organisational and employee training needs.
- Coordinate internal and external training interventions.
- Maintain training and development records.
- Support employee development, succession planning and talent management initiatives.
Payroll & HR Administration
- Manage and verify HR-related payroll inputs, including new appointments, terminations, leave, salary changes and deductions.
- Liaise with payroll and finance to ensure accurate employee information.
- Manage leave administration and employee benefits processes.
- Oversee contracts of employment, amendments and other HR documentation.
Employment Equity & Compliance
- Support the company's Employment Equity and transformation objectives.
- Assist with statutory HR reporting and compliance requirements.
- Maintain HR policies in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
- Ensure HR practices remain aligned with the standards and expectations of an international organisation.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Support initiatives aimed at improving employee engagement, retention and workplace culture.
- Promote professional communication and positive employee relations.
- Assist management with organisational change and employee communication.
- Act as a trusted HR point of contact for employees and management.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant HR / Human Resources Management / Industrial Psychology or related qualification.
- Approximately 5+ years' solid generalist HR experience, preferably with experience operating at HR Manager or senior HR generalist level.
- Demonstrable experience across the full HR lifecycle.
- Strong working knowledge of South African labour legislation.
- Solid experience in employee relations and disciplinary processes is essential.
- Experience dealing with CCMA matters would be advantageous.
- Strong recruitment, performance management and HR administration experience.
- Good understanding of payroll processes and employee benefits.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with HR/payroll systems.
- Experience within a large corporate, multinational, retail, hospitality or similarly structured organisationwould be advantageous.

Pay: R30 000,00 - R40 000,00 per month
