CuroHelp is seeking an exceptional House Manager for a private household. This is a highly hands-on position requiring a versatile private service professional who can seamlessly combine household management with Butler, Valet, Chef and Chauffeur/Driver responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be polished, discreet and exceptionally organised, with the ability to anticipate the Principal's needs and ensure the residence and daily lifestyle operate effortlessly.

The Role

This is not a traditional office-based House Manager position. We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable managing the household, serving at the table, preparing a meal, caring for a wardrobe or driving the Principal.

You will take responsibility for the smooth day-to-day operation of the residence while providing highly personalised service.

House Management

• Oversee the daily operation and presentation of the private residence
• Ensure the household is maintained to exceptional standards
• Coordinate household routines, schedules and priorities
• Manage and supervise household staff and external contractors where required
• Maintain household inventories and oversee purchasing and supplies
• Coordinate maintenance, servicing and repairs
• Prepare the residence for the Principal, family members and guests
• Maintain household manuals, preferred suppliers and service records
• Anticipate requirements rather than waiting to be asked

Butler & Private Service

• Provide discreet and professional Butler service
• Welcome and look after guests
• Formal and informal table setting
• Food and beverage service
• Prepare drinks and refreshments
• Assist with entertaining, dinners and private events
• Maintain service areas, glassware, silverware and household presentation
• Understand the Principal's personal preferences and routines
• Deliver attentive service without being intrusive

Valet & Wardrobe

• Manage the Principal's wardrobe and personal effects
• Prepare clothing and accessories
• Packing and unpacking for travel
• Coordinate laundry, dry cleaning, alterations and specialist garment care
• Shoe and clothing care
• Prepare outfits according to schedules and engagements
• Maintain wardrobe organisation and inventories
• Ensure luggage and personal requirements are prepared ahead of travel

Private Chef / Cooking

The successful candidate does not need to be a Michelin-trained Chef, but must be a confident and capable cook.

Responsibilities may include:

• Preparing high-quality everyday meals
• Breakfast, lunch and dinner preparation when required
• Light entertaining and guest meals
• Menu planning according to the Principal's preferences
• Shopping and sourcing quality ingredients
• Maintaining an organised and well-stocked kitchen
• Understanding dietary requirements and healthy eating preferences
• Coordinating with specialist or private chefs for larger events when necessary

Chauffeur & Driving

• Drive the Principal and guests safely and professionally
• Airport and station transfers
• Business and social appointments
• Plan routes and anticipate travel requirements
• Maintain vehicles in immaculate condition
• Coordinate servicing, maintenance, insurance and valeting
• Assist with luggage and travel arrangements
• Demonstrate excellent road awareness and defensive driving standards

Experience

Candidates will ideally have experience as a:

House Manager | Household Manager | Butler | Valet | Private Chef/Cook | Chauffeur | Travelling Butler | Private Household Professional

Candidates from luxury hospitality, private yachts, royal households, five-star hotels or private aviation may also be considered where they can demonstrate the required breadth of private service skills.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience within a high-standard private household or comparable luxury environment
• Strong Butler/service skills
• Valet and wardrobe-care experience
• Confident cooking ability
• Excellent driving skills and appropriate driving licence
• Excellent spoken English
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work in South Africa without sponsorship
• Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and discretion
• Flexibility to travel if required
