Job Title :Head of Pharmaceutical Services
Location : Clinix Head Office (Hyde Park)
Reports to :Chief Medical Officer
JOB SUMMARY
Clinix Health Group is seeking a highly qualified and strategic Head of Pharmaceutical Services to lead and oversee pharmacy operations across the hospital group. This role will ensure compliance with all South African regulatory requirements while advancing clinical pharmacy services, medication safety and operational efficiency across multiple sites.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B Pharm) degree.
- Post graduate qualification in Business Administration (MBA) OR Public Health OR Healthcare Management
- Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
Minimum Experience:
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in hospital pharmacy PLUS 3-5 years’ experience in a senior Pharmaceutical Services leadership role
Key Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of SAPC regulations, Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) and South African Healthcare legislation
- Strong leadership, financial management and strategic planning skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Proven track record in multi-site pharmacy management
- Experience within a private hospital group environment
DELIVERABLES
- Manage the Pharmaceutical Services function across the group
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for Pharmaceutical Services across the group
- Function as a Pharmaceutical Services subject matter expert
- Ensure full compliance with regulations of the Pharmacy Act, Act 53 of 1974 and the Medicines and related Substances Act, Act 101 of 1965
- Drive the implementation of digital health solutions (e.g. electronic prescribing, automated dispensing systems)
- Lead, mentor and develop, Pharmaceutical Services managers, Responsible Pharmacists, pharmacists and pharmacy support personell
- Collaborate with hospital executives, clinicians and nursing leadership to enhance patient’s outcomes
- Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery
- Manage a sub-function that builds people and ensures excellent Pharmaceutical Services delivery
- Monitor and control pharmaceutical monetary resources to achieve organizational goals
- Deploy an integrated risk management, governance and compliance framework for Pharmaceutical Services
