Job description
Role purpose
Responsible for all areas of human resources including (but not limited to) recruitment & selection, performance management, industrial relations, payroll, policy development & implementation, employee well-being, and training & development.
Key responsibilities
Recruitment & Selection
- Drafting of job specifications
- Publishing of adverts/ liaising with and sourcing recruitment agencies
- Screening of CV’s
- Coordinating & organizing interviews
- Correspondence with applicants
Accurate record keeping and general administration
- Ensuring all employee files are updated
- Completing audit on HR files and policies
- Following up for all outstanding information
- Implementing admin/file management system
Policy implementation
- Assisting in development of HR policies for the company
- Ensuring these policies are distributed, communicated, and adhered to
Performance management
- Implementing performance appraisals
- Communication across the company to ensure appraisals are completed
- Performance counselling
Payroll
- Monthly reconciling and reviewing of any changes/updates
- Reviewing monthly payrolls
Industrial relations
- Disciplinary enquiries and investigations
- Issuing of disciplinary warnings
- CCMA attendance and representation
Training & Development
- Conducting training needs analysis when required
- Co-ordination and organization of all training initiatives
- Record keeping of registers and certificates
Employee Wellbeing
- Supporting all employees with queries and concerns
- Assisting Managers in addressing employee wellbeing
Compliance
- Health and Safety
- Department of labour inspections
- Keeping abreast of changes/updates to legislation
- Annual submissions (Employment Equity, Return of earnings, WSP)
Remuneration & Benefits
- Liasing with providers for medical aid & pension
- Coordinating meetings/ updates regarding benefits
Other
- The role holder will from time to time be required to carry out any other duties that are within the scope of the job.
Person Specification
Education, Language & Qualifications
- Qualification in Industrial psychology / Human resource Management
- Extensive knowledge of SA employment legislation
- Experience working with payroll systems (HRIS)
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- 5-7 years working in a Generalist role
- 2-3 years working in a supervisory/managerial role
Desirable Knowledge, skills and Experience
- Previous experience on employee self-service systems (Sage300, PaySpace, GreatSoft, etc.)
- Must be adaptable to fast changing technologies
