General Foreman / Site Manager (Building Construction)

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on General Foreman / Site Manager to strengthen our on-site construction execution team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial, residential, industrial, or mixed-use building projects and possess excellent leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 10 years' proven experience in the building construction industry.
- Extensive experience as a General Foreman, Site Manager, or Senior Foreman on building projects.
- Based in or willing to relocate to Cape Town.
- Relevant construction qualification or trade certificate will be advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Thorough understanding of South African building regulations, construction methods, and health and safety legislation.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong computer literacy (MS Office; experience with construction management software is advantageous).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day site activities from project commencement through to completion.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise site labour, subcontractors, suppliers, and plant.
- Ensure construction work is executed according to approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and programme requirements.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where necessary to maintain project schedules.
- Coordinate daily site activities and communicate effectively with project management teams.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with project specifications.
- Enforce compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and company safety procedures.
- Identify and proactively resolve construction, quality, and operational issues.
- Monitor productivity, labour allocation, material usage, and equipment utilisation.
- Manage site logistics, deliveries, storage, and housekeeping.
- Ensure accurate daily site records, progress reports, labour returns, and site documentation are maintained.
- Attend site meetings and provide progress updates to project stakeholders.
- Coordinate inspections with consultants, engineers, and local authorities where required.
- Assist in project planning, sequencing, and resource allocation.
- Ensure defects are addressed promptly and manage snag lists through to practical completion.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement on site.
