Job description
Angala is a luxury boutique property situated in the beautiful Winelands of Simondium, close to Franschhoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch.
We are looking for a passionate, hands-on and experienced Food & Beverage Manager / Duty Manager to join our team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves luxury hospitality, exceptional guest experiences and leading a team and who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day operation of a smaller boutique property.
The successful candidate will oversee our Food & Beverage operation while also taking responsibility.
The Role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our:
- Restaurant and bar
- Breakfast service
- Room service and in-room dining
- Special dining experiences
- Food & Beverage team
- Guest experience during assigned shifts
- Overall guesthouse operation when acting as Duty Manager
You will work closely with the Operations Manager, Chefs and wider team to ensure that Angala consistently delivers a warm, personalised and luxury guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Food & Beverage
- Oversee the daily restaurant, bar and breakfast operations.
- Ensure consistently high food and beverage service standards.
- Work closely with the Chefs on menus, seasonal offerings and special guest experiences.
- Monitor food quality, presentation and service.
- Oversee beverage and wine service, stock and inventory.
- Conduct pre-service inspections and daily briefings.
- Monitor costs, wastage, stock levels and departmental performance.
- Assist with menu costing and pricing.
- Ensure all health, hygiene and food safety standards are maintained.
Guest Experience
- Be a visible and welcoming presence for our guests.
- Create memorable, personalised dining experiences.
- Build strong relationships with guests and returning guests.
- Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally and proactively.
- Look for opportunities to continuously improve the guest experience.
Leadership
- Lead, motivate and develop the F&B team.
- Train and coach staff in luxury service standards.
- Conduct daily team briefings.
- Lead by example and remain hands-on during busy service periods.
Duty Manager
- Act as Manager on Duty when required.
- Oversee the smooth operation of the property during your shift.
- Coordinate communication between departments.
- Assist Reception during busy periods.
- Deal confidently with guest requests and operational challenges.
- Conduct property inspections and ensure standards are maintained.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents.
Administration & Controls
- Complete daily manager reports.
- Monitor F&B sales and performance.
- Maintain accurate stock records and conduct stock counts.
- Check supplier deliveries and invoices.
- Assist with monthly reporting.
- Ensure SOPs and operational procedures are followed.

Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' F&B management experience, preferably within a luxury hotel, lodge, restaurant or wine estate.
- Previous supervisory or Duty Manager experience.
- Hospitality qualification will be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and POS systems.
- Wine and beverage knowledge will be advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport.
- Ability to work weekends, public holidays, evenings and during peak periods.
