Job Description
The Financial Process Controller will be responsible for designing, documenting, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving financial processes across the business. The successful candidate will ensure that financial process controls are effective, documented, consistently applied, and compliant across all sites. This role requires strong analytical, problem-solving, training, and change management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Process Management
- Analyze, document, and optimize financial processes and process flows across the organization.
- Develop and maintain detailed process flow diagrams and workflow documentation.
- Identify process inefficiencies, control weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
- Design and implement effective financial process controls to mitigate risks and improve operational efficiency.
- Monitor process adherence and recommend corrective actions where required.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all key financial processes.
- Ensure SOPs accurately reflect current business practices, controls, and compliance requirements.
- Review SOPs regularly and update them as processes evolve.
- Drive the implementation and standardization of SOPs across multiple business sites.
Training and Change Management
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops on financial processes and SOPs.
- Ensure employees understand and consistently apply approved processes and controls.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to process owners and end users.
- Promote a culture of process discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Compliance and Governance
- Monitor compliance with approved financial policies, procedures, and SOPs.
- Conduct regular process compliance reviews and audits across all sites.
- Report non-compliance issues and assist management in implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure financial processes comply with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
Reconciliations and Financial Controls
- Review key balance sheet and operational reconciliations for completeness, accuracy, and timely completion.
- Ensure reconciliation processes are properly documented and controlled.
- Investigate reconciliation discrepancies and facilitate resolution.
- Monitor control effectiveness and identify areas requiring strengthening.
Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement
- Investigate process-related issues and identify root causes.
- Develop practical solutions to improve process efficiency and control effectiveness.
- Lead process improvement initiatives and projects.
- Collaborate with finance and operational teams to implement sustainable improvements.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Management, or related field.
- Completed articles will be an advantage
Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in finance, financial controls, process management, internal controls, or related environment.
- Proven experience in developing SOPs and process documentation.
- Experience in process mapping and flowchart development.
- Experience in implementing and monitoring financial controls.
- Experience working across multiple locations or business units will be advantageous.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of financial processes and internal control frameworks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Strong analysis skills.
