Position: Financial Accountant
Location: Springfield Park, Durban
Job Overview
A well-established and fast-paced distribution company is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join its finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls, and managing inventory accounting in a high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare monthly management accounts.
Perform month-end and year-end financial close processes.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
Prepare VAT returns and statutory submissions.
Maintain the fixed asset register.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
Analyse financial results and prepare management reports.
Manage inventory accounting, stock valuations and stock reconciliations.
Investigate stock variances and ensure inventory accuracy.
Work closely with operations regarding stock control processes.
Assist with annual audits.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls.
Minimum Requirements
BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification.
SAICA/SAIPA articles advantageous.
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Financial Accountant.
Experience within a wholesale, distribution, manufacturing or FMCG environment.
Strong stock accounting and inventory control experience is essential.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
ERP system experience (Syspro, SAP, Sage Evolution or similar).
Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills.
