Annual Financial Statements (AFS) Compilation – Job Description
Responsible for the preparation and compilation of Annual Financial Statements (AFS) for various entities in accordance with applicable financial reporting frameworks, including IFRS, IFRS for SMEs and relevant South African legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compile and prepare annual financial statements from the trial balance, general ledger and supporting working papers.
- Review prior-year financial statements and ensure consistency of accounting policies, disclosures and comparative figures.
- Perform detailed balance sheet and income statement reconciliations and investigate unusual or material variances.
- Prepare and review supporting working papers for key financial statement balances, including property, plant and equipment, investments, receivables, payables, provisions, loans, leases, tax and cash.
- Prepare financial statement notes, accounting policy disclosures and supporting calculations.
- Perform year-end journals and ensure that all adjustments are appropriately supported and documented.
- Review the general ledger and trial balance for completeness, accuracy and appropriate classification.
- Prepare and maintain audit/AFS working paper files and ensure that supporting documentation is complete and readily available for review.
- Perform IFRS/IFRS for SMEs assessments and ensure appropriate accounting treatment and disclosure of transactions.
- Prepare cash flow statements, statement of changes in equity and other required financial statements.
- Liaise with auditors, clients and management to resolve queries and provide supporting documentation.
- Address review points and implement required amendments to the financial statements and working papers.
- Ensure compliance with the Companies Act, applicable accounting standards and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Use accounting and financial reporting software, including CaseWare, Draftworx and Excel, to prepare, review and finalise financial statements.
- Assist with year-end close processes, financial reporting and audit readiness.
- Ensure that AFS are accurately compiled, reviewed and finalised within agreed deadlines.
Pay: R6 500,00 - R10 000,00 per month
Experience:
- Draftwox: 1 year (Required)
- caseware: 1 year (Preferred)
- Excel: 1 year (Required)
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Midrand, Gauteng
