Job description
Overall Purpose of the Job
The Finance Analyst is responsible for providing financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and donor financial management support to the Finance Business Partner and assigned country and departmental portfolios. The role supports financial planning, proposal development, award management, and organizational reporting by producing high-quality financial information, conducting financial analyses, and developing reporting tools and dashboards that support strategic and operational decision-making.
The Finance Analyst works closely with Finance Business Partners, Country Finance Managers, Program Teams, Grants & Compliance, Resource Development, and departmental leaders to ensure timely, accurate, and actionable financial information across m2m's global operations.
Key Performance Areas
Budgeting and Forecasting Support
- Support the FBP in developing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Consolidate departmental, country, and project budget submissions.
- Maintain budget models and forecasting tools.
- Analyze budget assumptions and identify financial risks.
- Prepare scenario analyses for management decision making.
- Support monthly reforecasting processes.
- Assist departments in developing realistic budget plans.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare monthly management reports and dashboards.
- Produce budget versus actual analyses.
- Investigate and explain significant variances.
- Monitor expenditure trends and provide recommendations.
- Support development of Board, Finance Committee, and Executive reporting.
- Produce ad hoc financial analyses requested by leadership.
- Maintain reporting templates and analytical tools.
Award and Donor Financial Management Support
- Support monitoring of donor-funded awards and projects.
- Track project spending against approved budgets.
- Assist in preparation of donor financial reports.
- Support compliance with donor financial requirements.
- Review expenditure allocations and coding accuracy.
- Assist with project modifications and budget revisions.
- Identify potential underspends, overspends, and compliance risks.
Proposal Budget Development and Pricing Support
- Support preparation of proposal budgets for new funding opportunities.
- Develop detailed costing models and budget narratives.
- Assist with indirect cost recovery calculations.
- Validate assumptions used in proposal budgets.
- Support subcontractor and partner budget reviews.
- Ensure proposal budgets comply with donor requirements and internal policies.
- Assist with maintaining organizational costing templates.
Business Intelligence, Systems and Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting tools.
- Support data quality reviews and reconciliation processes.
- Automate reporting and budgeting processes where possible.
- Improve financial reporting templates and models.
- Maintain documentation of financial planning processes.
- Support implementation of new FP&A tools and systems.
Financial Advisory and Stakeholder Support
- Provide financial information and analysis to departments and country teams.
- Support training of budget holders on financial management practices.
- Promote financial literacy across the organization.
- Provide day-to-day analytical support to the FBP and Senior Manager FP&A.
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
Must-Have
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Management, or related field
- Professional qualification (CIMA, ACCA, SAIPA, SAICA articles, or equivalent) preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, budgeting, donor finance, or financial reporting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including:
o Pivot Tables
o Power Query
o Advanced formulas
o Financial modelling
- Experience working with ERP, budgeting, and reporting systems
- Experience producing management reports and financial dashboards
- Strong financial analysis and forecasting skills
Desirable
- Previous experience within a multinational NGO environment
- Knowledge of major institutional donors including: (Global Fund, USAID, CDC, EU, FCDO, SIDA, UN Agencies, ViiV Healthcare)
- Power BI experience
- Experience supporting proposal budget development.

Working Conditions
- Full time role
