Field Service Diesel Mechanic - Earth Moving Equipment

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Reporting structure: This Position reports into the Workshop Foreman of the Manitou Centre Kathu

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Vehicle Inspection:

o Perform thorough inspections of Manitou diesel-powered vehicles or machinery to identify mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues.

· Diagnostic Testing:

o Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify problems accurately and efficiently, such as issues with the engine, transmission, exhaust system, brakes, or other components.

· Repairs and Maintenance:

o Conduct repairs, maintenance, and overhauls on diesel engines and related systems. This includes tasks such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, brake adjustments, and replacing worn-out or damaged parts.

· Troubleshooting:

o Diagnose complex problems and recommend parts replacements. Determine the root cause of issues and implement solutions to ensure safe and efficient operation.

· Parts Replacement:

o On a works Instruction, complete a works order by installing replacement parts, components, and systems. Ensure that the right parts are used and that they meet safety and quality standards.

· Safety Compliance:

o Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure that repaired or maintained vehicles meet safety standards.

· Documentation:

o Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and complete job cards accurately. This documentation is essential for tracking maintenance schedules and compliance with regulations.

· Customer Interaction:

o Communicate in a professional manner with customers.

· Preventive Maintenance:

o Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks. This includes tasks like changing filters, inspecting belts, and checking fluid levels.

EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualification:

· Matric (Gr 12)

· Red Seal Qualified/Earthmoving Heavy Equipment

· Proven Industry Track Record.

· Valid Drivers License

EXPERIENCE:

• 4 years plus experience and proven track record in Sales and Customer relationship environment

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONNECTIONS:

Ability to Demonstrate strong Customer interactions, both internal and External

LOCATION & EXPECTED TRAVEL:

· This position is based at Kathu, Northern Cape, South Africa.

· Expect to be deployed to Specific Contracted Customers on a Rotational basis. (within South Africa, Generally a Mining Site)

· Could also fulfill workshop role is required.

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Kathu, Northern Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
