Job description
Our esteemed client, one of the leading meat suppliers, processors and exporters in Sub-Saharan Africa, is looking for an Electrician to join them on the East Rand!
Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified Electrician with a recognized Trade Test Certificate.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a production or industrial environment (Abattoir experience highly advantageous).
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, fault finding and preventative maintenance.
- Experience with PLC systems (programming & fault finding).
- Experience working with abattoir/slaughter line equipment, conveyors and processing machinery.
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems and cold room operations.
- Familiar with motor control centres (MCCs), VSDs/Drives and control panels.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends and standby when required.
- Own reliable transport.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections and repairs on all electrical and automated systems.
- Conduct advanced fault finding on PLCs, production lines, and processing equipment.
- Ensure optimal functioning of slaughter line equipment, hoists, conveyors, and cutting machinery.
- Assist with installation, upgrades and commissioning of new equipment and systems.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety standards (including food safety requirements)
- Minimize downtime and support continuous production efficiency.
