Electrical Manager
Alberton
Purpose of the Job:
To manage electrical design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning activities by coordinating electrical resources, leading electrical teams, maintaining quality and safety standards and supporting the successful delivery of projects and operational requirements.

Microsoft Office Suite; ERP or inventory management systems; Electrical drawing and design software; Production or Project Management systems/ software

Electrical DraughtingRequired qualifications
- Grade 12/Matric or equivalent
- Relevant electrical qualification, including a recognised Trade Test as an Electrician (Red Seal)
Preferred qualifications
- Electrical Engineering qualification
- Supervisory or Management qualification
Required technical or professional experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical installation, manufacturing or industrial environments
- 2 to 3 years’ experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings and specifications
- 2 to 3 years’ experience coordinating electrical activities within project or manufacturing environments
- 2 to 3 years' experience coordinating or supporting installation and commissioning activities
Preferred technical or professional experience
- Experience managing or supporting commissioning and site installation activities
- Experience in construction is beneficial
- Knowledge of Zoning is required
- Experience working across multiple African countries and adapting to varying regulatory environments is advantageous.
- People management or supervision
- 2 to 3 years’ experience leading or supervising electrical teams
Key Responsibilities
Key Performance AreaElectrical Design, Planning and Project Support
- To design and plan electrical systems by developing compliant technical solutions aligned with project requirements, specifications, and applicable standards.
- To achieve project and operational delivery requirements by coordinating electrical planning activities, interpreting electrical drawings and specifications, allocating resources and scheduling electrical activities daily
- To support project delivery by collaborating with project, procurement, draughting and factory teams, identifying electrical risks and implementing corrective actions as required
- To maintain effective electrical workflow by prioritising work activities, balancing operational demands and coordinating labour, tools, equipment and material requirements daily
Electrical Operations and Commissioning
- To achieve electrical production and installation requirements by coordinating electrical manufacturing, assembly, installation and testing activities daily
- To support successful installation and commissioning activities by planning electrical resources, coordinating product readiness and resolving electrical issues as required
- To optimise electrical team productivity by monitoring labour utilisation, workflow efficiency and operational performance and implementing improvement initiatives as required
- To improve operational effectiveness by identifying inefficiencies, implementing practical improvements and supporting continuous improvement initiatives as required
Electrical Quality and Compliance
- To maintain electrical quality standards by implementing quality requirements, monitoring workmanship and maintaining compliance with electrical specifications, customer requirements and company standards daily
- To support quality assurance activities by conducting tests, inspections, reviewing completed work and addressing quality concerns before project handover as required
- To reduce rework and quality defects by identifying quality trends, implementing preventative actions and promoting a culture of quality workmanship as required
- To maintain accurate quality and compliance records by monitoring the completion and retention of inspections, testing records, commissioning documentation and quality documentation as required
Electrical Safety, Tools and Equipment
- To maintain a safe working environment by implementing safety requirements, monitoring compliance with procedures and addressing unsafe conditions and behaviours as required
- To maintain housekeeping and asset protection standards by supporting organised work areas, safe storage practices and responsible use of company equipment daily
- To maintain compliance with company and regulatory requirements by implementing policies, procedures and applicable electrical standards as required
Staff Management and Leadership
- To maintain appropriate departmental resourcing by identifying workforce requirements, supporting recruitment and succession activities and maintaining approved staffing levels as required
- To achieve team performance requirements by defining expectations, monitoring delivery against targets, providing feedback and implementing corrective action monthly and as required
- To develop team capability by identifying skills gaps, facilitating coaching, supporting on-the-job training and implementing development activities as required
- To maintain workforce productivity and behavioural standards by monitoring attendance, performance and conduct and implementing corrective action as required
- To build a positive and engaged team culture by promoting teamwork, accountability, collaboration and constructive conflict resolution as required
- To support future team capability by identifying high-potential employees and supporting development opportunities as required
Inventory and Administration
- To maintain the availability and reliability of electrical tools, equipment and testing instruments by monitoring utilisation, condition and maintenance requirements, and procuring as required
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and technical documentation.
