Job description
We are looking for a motivated, energetic, and hands-on Hybrid Merchandiser to join our growing FMCG team. This role combines merchandising, sales support, relationship building, stock management, and brand execution across retail stores.
You will be responsible for ensuring our products are well displayed, fully stocked, visible to customers, and growing in sales within stores such as Shoprite Holdings, SPAR Group, Checkers, independent retailers, and other outlets.
This is the perfect role for someone who enjoys working in the field, interacting with store managers, driving sales, and taking ownership of results.
Key ResponsibilitiesMerchandising & Store Execution
- Merchandise shelves according to company standards
- Ensure products are correctly priced, front-faced, and visible
- Monitor stock levels on shelf and in back-up storage
- Rotate stock using FIFO principles
- Build eye-catching displays and secondary placements
- Check expiry dates and remove damaged stock
- Maintain excellent shelf presence at all times
Sales & Relationship Building
- Build strong relationships with store managers and staff
- Negotiate additional shelf space and promotional opportunities
- Identify opportunities for new product listings
- Encourage re-orders and larger orders
- Promote current deals, launches, and promotions
- Assist with customer queries and feedback
Reporting & Administration
- Submit daily visit reports
- Capture photos of displays and store activity
- Report out-of-stock items and competitor activity
- Track sales opportunities and follow-ups
- Provide market feedback to management
Vehicle & Stock Management
- Assist with loading and managing vehicle stock
- Ensure correct stock counts before and after routes
- Maintain clean and organized vehicle stock areas
- Help prevent stock losses and damages
Requirements
- Previous merchandising, sales rep, or FMCG experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- Good communication and people skills
- Strong work ethic and self-motivated attitude
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Good problem-solving skills
- Physically fit and comfortable being on the road daily
- Basic smartphone skills (WhatsApp, photos, reporting apps)
- Reliable and punctual
