Job description

Conducts fault finding and investigations to diagnose repairs and maintenance requirements on trucks and trailers
Analyses causes of faults, requests quotes and submits for pre-approval
Services and repairs UD290/440, Quan series, Mercedes Actros and Axor trucks and trailers accurately and with the highest levels of quality
Replaces vehicles’ engines, transmissions, steering mechanisms and braking systems
Test drives repaired vehicles to ensure that the repairs were effectively and correctly carried out
Responds to breakdowns and emergencies and carries out onsite repairs when necessary
Adheres to breakdown safety protocols
Implements safety standard operating procedures at all times to minimise the risk of further incidents / accidents
Attends to certificate of fitness (COF) defects on vehicles
Conducts brake tests on completion of all brake overhauls
Performs preventative maintenance on service trucks
Conducts strict inspection checklist procedures and maintains accurate paperwork and documentation
Completes and submits job cards for all work conducted
Identifies and makes proactive recommendations for preventative maintenance of vehicles to prevent major breakdowns of vehicles
Maintains optimum stock levels of parts, tools and equipment
Escalates complex / unresolved repairs to the Workshop Foreman
