Why This Role Matters (Purpose): The primary duties of a Diesel Mechanic include performing diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles to find faults, analyzing diagnostic test results and repairing or replacing engine, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system components.

What You Will Be Responsible For: Productivity output

• Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Ensure correct measurement of products are used to avoid production waste

Inventory handling

• Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist
• Maintaining a parts inventory

Mechanical ability

• Running diagnostic tests on vehicles.
• Analyzing diagnostic test results.
• Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems.
• Checking vehicle lighting systems
• Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks

Adherence to sound SHERQ principles

• Wear the correct PPE
• Adhere to good housekeeping principles
• Ensure all SHERQ requirements are met

What You Will Bring: Qualifications:

• Grade 12
• Code 10 Driver's licence
• Diesel Mechanic Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal)

Experience:

• 3 year's demonstrated experience as a Diesel Mechanic (Truck and LDV).
• 3 years demonstrated knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Proven working experience in an Explosives environment.
