OVERALL PURPOSE

As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in optimizing our software development and delivery processes by leveraging DevOps tools and services, and creating an excellent developer experience. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, QA engineers, and IT operations, to streamline workflows and improve overall efficiency. Your expertise in Azure infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and automation will be instrumental in achieving our business goals and maintaining a stable and scalable development environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Developer Environment Management:

  • Plan, Architect, deploy, and maintain infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
  • Implement resource management and optimization strategies to control costs and maximize efficiency.
  • Work with our Infrastructure and Site Reliability team to ensure effective monitoring is in place and proactive resolution of issues.

CI/CD Pipeline Management:

  • Design and implement efficient continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for software projects.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless code integration, automated testing, and smooth deployment processes.
  • Improve and optimize existing CI/CD workflows to enhance software delivery speed and reliability.
  • Ensure repository maintenance, including review process and pipeline triggers.

Infrastructure Automation:

  • Drive the automation of infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) techniques.
  • Promote the adoption of configuration management tools to ensure consistency across environments.

Security and Compliance:

  • Work closely with all teams to implement best practices for securing Azure resources and maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and perform risk mitigation measures as necessary.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineers, QA, Infrastructure and operations, to streamline workflows and foster a DevSecOps culture.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on project status, challenges, and improvements.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Matric certificate or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in Azure cloud architecture, implementation, and management
  • Demonstrated expertise in building and managing CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps and GitHub actions.
  • Good understanding of implementing security and code quality tools such as SonarQube
  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and hands-on experience with tools like Terraform
  • Working knowledge of cloud application configurations.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation using languages
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies
  • Azure certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, are a plus
