Job description

We’re looking for a skilled, reliable and hands-on developer to TAKE OVER the development and ongoing management of our online auction platform.

This is NOT a basic website maintenance position.

OUR PLATFORM is an active e-commerce and online auction project that has already been developed to an advanced stage. We need someone capable of stepping into the existing system, understanding how everything works, completing the outstanding development and taking responsibility for keeping the platform running properly.

WHAT YOU’LL BE TAKING OVER

Existing WordPress / WooCommerce website
Online auction and bidding functionality
User registration and account management
Membership and bidding-access controls
Payment integrations
Auction product and lot pages
Live auction functionality and countdowns
Customer invoices and notifications
Mobile and desktop optimisation
Website speed and performance
Security, backups and updates
Bug fixing and troubleshooting
Ongoing improvements and new features

YOUR FIRST JOB

Understand the existing system.

Identify what has already been completed, what needs fixing and what remains before launch.

Then FINISH IT.

Once launched, you’ll continue maintaining and improving the platform.

WE NEED SOMEONE WHO:

✓ Has strong WordPress & WooCommerce experience
✓ Understands PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
✓ Can work with and modify existing code
✓ Can troubleshoot plugin and theme conflicts
✓ Understands APIs and payment integrations
✓ Can work with databases and hosting environments
✓ Understands responsive/mobile development
✓ Can improve website performance and security
✓ Can diagnose problems without needing step-by-step instructions
✓ Is comfortable taking responsibility for an existing project

Experience with AUCTION, MARKETPLACE or E-COMMERCE platforms will be a major advantage.

IMPORTANT

We are NOT looking for someone who only installs WordPress themes and plugins.

We need someone who can actually DEVELOP, TROUBLESHOOT and TAKE OWNERSHIP of the platform.

You must be comfortable working with an existing system built by other developers.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The right person will play an important role in launching and developing the platform as the business grows.
