Credit Controller

Location: Foreshore, Cape Town
Hours: Full-time | UK working hours
Work arrangement: Office-based only – no remote or hybrid working

GOTO Group is looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join our team in Cape Town.

You'll be working as part of a finance team supporting an established UK business, with responsibility for managing customer accounts, following up on outstanding payments and helping to keep the accounts receivable process running smoothly.

We're looking for someone who is confident dealing with customers, comfortable having conversations about outstanding payments and able to stay organised when managing a busy debtor book.

The Role

As a Credit Controller, you'll take ownership of outstanding customer accounts and work to ensure payments are received on time.

You'll spend a lot of your time contacting customers, resolving account queries, keeping records up to date and following up on overdue balances. You'll also work closely with internal teams where there are issues with invoices, payments or customer accounts.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of customer accounts and outstanding balances.
• Contact customers by telephone and email regarding overdue payments.
• Follow up regularly on outstanding invoices and agreed payment arrangements.
• Allocate payments and keep customer accounts up to date.
• Investigate and resolve account and payment queries.
• Reconcile customer accounts and identify discrepancies.
• Monitor aged debt and prioritise accounts requiring attention.
• Maintain accurate records of all collection activity and customer communication.
• Prepare regular reports on outstanding debt and collection activity.
• Escalate long-outstanding or difficult accounts when required.
• Work with internal teams to resolve billing, payment and account queries.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with solid credit control experience who is comfortable taking ownership of their accounts.

Ideally, you'll have:

• Previous experience working as a Credit Controller or in a similar accounts receivable role.
• Experience managing outstanding debt and making collection calls.
• Good understanding of reconciliations, payment allocations and aged debt.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good Excel and general computer skills.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Good communication skills and confidence speaking to customers about payments.
• The ability to manage your workload and work to deadlines.
• A professional and persistent approach to debt collection.

Experience working with UK customers or within the legal or professional services sector would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Please note: This is a fully office-based position. We do not offer remote or hybrid working.

Pay: R15 000,00 - R25 000,00 per month
